La Cité du Vin : Bordeaux's «Guggenheim» !

The first thing you’ll notice is the daring architecture of this venue dedicated to the spirit of wine ! The “Cité du Vin” is a new emblem for the city of Bordeaux, where savoir-faire meets the history of Humanity.

Smooth lines and ever-changing colours : everything here symbolizes wine and its environment.

Nearby, the Garonne river swirls and flows, much like wine, swirling in a glass. The Cité du Vin takes visitors on a fascinating tour to explore wine from all over the world: a tour that ends on a panoramic platform high above the city of Bordeaux.

Architecture fans will also enjoy the visit of the exterior of the « Cité » by XTU Agency and its designers/architects Anouk Legendre and Nicolas Desmazières.

Inside, tours are self-guided. An immersive and personal experience where visitors are invited to take time and wander, from one exhibit to another.

You will be guided by an audio guide (8 languages available) and a device that resembles a Smartphone. Off you go on an amazing journey to discover the world’s vineyards and the history of wine, throughout the centuries.

Explore the different smalls of wine (cinnamon, citrus, berries rouges etc…), and make your way up to the top of the building, where you’ll be invited to taste wine from Argentina, Moldavia, Crete, Georgia, Chili… red, white, rosé… the choice is yours. And the 360° panorama of Bordeaux is breathtaking!
